Letter to Johan – 9th Birthday

Dear Johan ko, happy happy birthday! My nanay-heart is very grateful to God for giving you to our family being a loving son to your daddy and me and very sweet brother to Joshua (kahit away kayo ng away! 🙂 You are already 9 years old, I cant believe it that 9 years have already flew by. It’s just like yesterday to me when we first learned that you are in my tummy! You have made me experience for the very first time how it it is to be a Nanay.

So how do I describe my 9-year old baby?

You have grown-up a lot 🙁 But now I am happy when you say I love you, or hug me and kiss me.. and even your messages sa chat make me smile 🙂

This year ate Jhean did not come back in January. I was so worried that you will miss her because she is the one taking care of you after school. But I’m glad you are resilient and getting by. I’m glad also that you are able to talk to her via video call and was able to say that she is now getting married.

1pm is your time for phone..you really liked Minecraft a lot

You are doing well in chess.. you always ask me to play with you, lagi mo ako natatalo hahaha. We enrolled sa school ng chess with your fellow Grade 3 classmates with Coach Chester, and now na bakasyon na, you enrolled online 🙂 So far you are enjoying the online classes. You are getting magaling!

Your friends invited to your birthday: Jaden, Bene, Mav, Joco, Basti, Enzo, Melo, Shara, Stella, Julianne, Lily, Luna, Kaya, Athena. You had fun in Timezone and also playing beyblades.

I am happy that you are enjoying Beyblade 🙂 You have now a full collection! Ang mahal pa naman ng bey, around 600-1000pesos, so imagine now you have 16 beys..we have almost 16K worth of it.

Favorite books lately – Wimpy Kid (you have just started recently), Almanac for kids, trivias and educational books

Inspired by tyhe Wimpy Kid, you have started journaling 🙂 It looks good because you have stickers on it. You have been writing here from time to time.

You always kiss me and hug me randomly during the day, I really love it. Thank you bibi!

Favorite color – still red!

Favorite food – Pandesal sa umaga (nagpapabili ka kay daddy) Cheerios, Krit, I’m glad you are liking choclates, your typical baon is rice + pritong fish or chicken or nilaga. You like the danggit that Grandma Ting sends over 🙂 Typical snacks at school is tinapay, mamon, egg hardbolied (white only)

You have learned how to swim through swimming classes here in Asteria! You and Joshua are both comfortable in the pool (as long as you can stand on it) and you can float and stay submerged in water 🙂 So proud of your progress back when you were so scared in the water. Now, you are enjoying the eater. During Stella’s birthday celebration, you’ve been in the pool since we arrived at 2pm up to 7pm. Di man lang nilamig hehehe.

You still play Lego from time to time with Joshua 🙂

You have played violin at 8years old…I’m so proud of you, ang galling mo e. You have no stage fright at all and able to do your recital so well!

You are always reminding daddy to lead the prayer before going to sleep. I cant thank Jesus enough for this.

Even with minimal study, your grades are very high! We got your final report card and your lowest is 97. So proud of you bibi ko.

You don’t like to wear polo shirts (button downs) and your shirt size is now 140…how time flies 😐

You’re growing too fast that our show size is almost the same. Even your height, you’re now sa may chin ko. Looking forward to more adventures with you and Joshua and Daddy and you keep growing tall to a fine young man.

I love you, always and forever.

Love,

Nanay

Commute from Condo to Work

This is another not-so-good lifetime experience next to Covid: energy crisis. President Marcos declared yesterday State of National Energy Emergency. What this means to me TODAY is to commute to work instead of my usual Grab car ride.

To Work – 349.00
Grab to LRT station – 312.00
LRT NAIAX to LRT EDSA Taft station – 27.00
MRT EDSA Taft to Boni – 10.00

Going Home – 63.00
MRT Boni to EDSA Taft – 10.00
LRT EDSA Taft to Dr. Santos station – 27.00
Jeep to Valley 2 – 14.00
Tricycle to Asteria – 12.00

So tipid and proud of maarte myself! Posting this to remind how much we can tipid. My usual Grab ride to CG2 is 2,000.00 per day in average! Plus the traffic and my stress if Grab driver is kaskasero or not careful in driving.

Super siksikan today though even if 6:30am ako umalis ng bahay lalo na sa MRT. Looks like there’s shortage na talaga ng transpo and everyone is taking the train.

Some notes for my next commute:
1. Bring payong – mainit pag maaga umuwi or baka umulan
2. Ok to bring tumbler – sa office na lang refill ng water
3. Keep up bring extra shirt
4. What to do with my bulky headphones?
5. Keep up wearing masks, andami may ubo and sipon sa MRT
6. Wear shoes good for walking

In Everything Give Thanks

I love my devotional this morning because I always tend to worry a lot. Here’s a good reminder for me and so I reposted it here.

Thanksgiving Encouragement for Moms

by Carmen Brown

I love autumn! The crispness in the air, the falling leaves, and the pumpkins arriving in stores all leave me in excited anticipation for the entire holiday season! I enjoy the simplicity of the good food and fellowship that Thanksgiving brings. But in all of this, there are a lot of expectations that can leave a Mama feeling tired, overwhelmed, and even anxious. That is why I love our verse for today! It says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV).

Do not be anxious about anything,” does that feel impossible to you? Without the fullness of Christ in you, it is impossible. But as Matthew 19:26 NIV says,” with God all things are possible.” This verse does not simply tell you not to be anxious. Instead of stewing in anxiety, it tells you to pray with Thanksgiving about every situation. Are you facing seemingly impossible situations with family coming into town, or are you struggling financially and anxiously wondering how you are going to make the holidays special this year? Remember to focus on thanking the Lord for the blessings of family and the things that you do have. Ask Him to help you with those things that are causing anxiety. He will give you a new perspective! If you can’t find any thanksgiving in your heart, ask Him for that too! He will answer you! When you are feeling anxious, pray with Thanksgiving!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV) says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Giving thanks in all circumstances is another seemingly impossible task without God. But, this verse says that it is God’s will for you, in Christ Jesus! In Christ, we can face all of the holiday preparations and life expectations with Thanksgiving. But we can’t set Jesus aside. We need to take time to sit quietly at Jesus’ feet, both in solitude and in the middle of our tasks, to focus on Him and seek Him for strength and for a thankful heart. Jesus told Martha when she was getting flustered and upset about all that she had to get done, “Mary has chosen the better part, and it will not be taken from her” (Luke 10:42 NIV). Your heart can be in a place of rest and gratitude as you fill up with His love and care for you. Then you can go forth in Thanksgiving, doing all that is required of you!

That heart of thankfulness will come as you pray without ceasing. Pray over your preparations. Pray while you bake, cook, and clean for the upcoming festivities. Put Jesus at the central focus of all that you are doing, and you will find peace. But also make sure that you are not taking on more than is required of you. Seek the Lord for what He wants you to do. Let go of any traditions and expectations that are stealing your joy. And as you practice more constant prayer and Thanksgiving, Philippians 4:7 (ESV) promises that “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

My prayer for you this Thanksgiving and as you head into the holiday season comes from a quote by Charles Spurgeon, “Let gratitude be awakened; let humility be deepened; let love be quickened.”

“When joy and prayer are married, their firstborn child is gratitude.” ~ Charles Spurgeon

You are making us proud everyday because you are doing so well in school, getting high grades here and there ven if sometimes we miss our review together.
