Identity

  • Anchoring identity of being a mom or a woman in careers, breastfed kids, sleep trained kids, last name, social media, appearance or beauty, men/husbands
  • Where do we anchor our identity and worth?
  • cultural or biblical?

The woman is God’s idea.

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” Genesis 2:18 NLT

  • she is an addition and not liability
  • strong enough to help!

We are created for a mission.

  • women perspective is different than men and has great value

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the Lord God took out one of the man’s ribs and closed up the opening. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man. Genesis 2:18‭, ‬21‭-‬22 NLT

Women are created solely by God.

  • Adam had not a hand in creating the woman — defined and decide by God ONLY
  • Second class citizens in a world of superior men
  • We are special. God made us in His image.

Two Lies in the Garden

1. Self-Improvement: Women needs the fruit to be like God.

“God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. Genesis 3:5‭-‬6 NLT

You are enough to be accepted and loved. No any fruit needed.

2. Self-Sufficiency: She is self-sufficient and does not need anyone.

Labels given to us in this world makes us lose track that we are made in God’s image.

You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.
Colossians 3:7‭-‬10 NLT

We are broken by sin.

Mission, strength, and worth because of Jesus.

Our primary interest is to be safe.

How safe do you feel in God, that you can actually thrive already?

Not self-improvement or self sufficiency but the love and mercy of God.

We are redeemed by the Son. Don’t forget to redeem that gift!

<Testimony by Joice Villamor>

What lie of the enemy are you battling with now? Self-sufficiency or Self-improvement?

How can you apply the Biblical truth of the love and mercy of Jesus to thrive as a woman?

Understanding Our Purpose & Calling

1. Unique Purpose

What did God created me for?

O nations of the world, recognize the Lord , recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor.

1 Chronicles 16:28‭-‬29 NLT
https://bible.com/bible/116/1ch.16.28-29.NLT

What does glorify means?

When they look at you, who are they seeing? Do you bear the image of God?

We are bearer of God’s image.

To glorify God means to make him obvious and beautiful in our lives.

– Edward Welch

We don’t want the season of waiting to paralize us.

How to glorify God? Read His Word.

Knowing your purpose simplifies your life.

How can I bring glory to God in my situation?

2. Unique Calling

Who is getting the glory?

It’s the same purpose, but it’s expression change.

Is taking care of the kids less than of a calling when you are leading women? No.

Was I am making God beautiful to these kids?

How to know your calling?

  • Pray, communicate with God
  • Listen to other people
  • Passion, desire – obey! (God’s Voice)
  • Recurring interests (shower organizer, makeups, government, etc)
  • Where are you spiritually fruitful?

Don’t look down on where you are now, because God will make you fruitful wherever you are.

Jenn: Am I fit to be a senior pastor’s wife?

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
https://bible.com/bible/116/jer.1.5.NLT

God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called.

God chose you. He knit you. Embrace it.

<Testimony by Connie Reyes>
